SEE YOU THERE!
With the support of our community, Moldovan Academy has realized 10 years of Excellence in Early Childhood Education! To share this exciting accomplishment we have supported a variety of local non-profits for 10 months, culminating in an Art Auction Benefit in September for Ama Ghar Children's Home.
At little more about Ama Ghar and the Ama Foundation: “The Ama Foundation was created to provide a home, a family environment and education for the most underprivileged children of Nepal by providing them with opportunities that will enhance their growth and development.” You can make donations directly through their website or by attending the Art in the Park Benefit: https://ama-foundation.org/ama-ghar/
Here are some of Ama Ghar's funding needs:
$12,000 - annual salary for all 8 Ama Ghar caregivers (Aunties and Uncles). We have a tireless staff of 8 Caregivers, 6 who live in residence and work long hours to give the children the attention and guidance they need on a daily basis.
$1,000 - annual budget for sports equipment and art supplies. Our first priority with new children is love, good food, medical care and a cozy bed. Our next priority is "play" and therapeutic art projects. Many of these children have not had a normal experience of childhood, and these activities really help.
$3,000 - annual budget for clothing for the 45 children who live at home. We do get occasional donations that help, but we have to buy school uniforms and three house outfits plus one nice set of clothes for outings.
$8,000 - annual budget for medical check-ups, dental, eye care and counseling. We do carry hospitalization insurance for unexpected major problems for children and staff.
$60,000 - annual education budget for 2017. This includes 65 children at various levels of education from Nursery to Bachelor's.
$2,000 - annual budget for vegetables. We have our own many organicgardening plots of onions, squash, cabbage, spinach, garlic, beans and we have an active tomato house. Luckily most of our children “Eat their vegetables!”
