SPRING FLING 2019

In the spirit of kindness we are giving back to our community and implementing special projects to focus on kindness in our classrooms. Each class has been assigned a local non profit organization to support. We will be promoting our class nonprofits in our annual Spring Fling Event. Please join us in helping raise awareness to these wonderful organizations.

Save The Bay is the largest regional organization working to protect, restore and celebrate San Francisco Bay since 1961. Save The Bay mobilizes thousands of Bay Area residents to protect and restore the Bay for future generations, both as advocates in their community and volunteers on the shoreline. In this era of climate change and a growing population, we work with scientists and policymakers to protect the Bay as our region's most important natural resource--essential to our environment, economy, and quality of life. www.savesfbay.org

The ocean is in trouble. From the depletion of fish stocks to increasing ocean temperatures, human activity threatens marine ecosystems that are vital to the health of our ocean and all life on earth. As a critical first responder to these threats, The Marine Mammal Center is leading the field in ocean conservation through marine mammal rescue, veterinary science, and education. Marine mammals are ecosystem indicators, and the health of these animals provides insights into human and ocean health threats. Together, we are taking action today to support a network of scientists and stewards to protect our shared ocean environment for future generations. marinemammalcenter.org

Originally from Sanskrit, namaste loosely translates to "homage to the inner light in all living things." This represents the purpose of Curry Without Worry: feeding hungry people in a dignified manner while encouraging peaceful coexistence. Curry Without Worry was founded in December of 2006, as a 501(c)3 with the sole purpose of serving soul pleasing food to the hungry people of San Francisco. While we desire to feed those people most in need of a meal, it is also our philosophy that hunger is not defined by an empty stomach. For this reason, Curry Without Worry is open to whomever hungers to join us. The mix of those who accept a meal brings a sense of equality, and peace to the experience, and allows those who truly are having a hard time in life to realize that there are people who care about bringing all people together. We serve a free weekly meal in downtown San Francisco, and Kathmandu, Nepal. For a small suggested donation, we sell a similar meal at the Noe Valley Farmers Market every Saturday in San Francisco. http://www.currywithoutworry.org/

Muttville, the name says it all. We reach out to senior and special needs rescue dogs; find suitable homes for those dogs that are adoptable; and offer end of life care for those that are not. These are not just shelter dogs; every day, dogs are moved from loving homes to concrete cages because their guardians have died or moved or simply can’t care for them anymore. If we had our way, no dog would spend its last days in a cold, dark shelter. There is so much love and joy in these dogs! Bringing these special dogs into a home is not only good for the dogs, but such loving, mellow dogs transform the quality of life for the people who adopt or foster them. https://muttville.org
